Beginners Millefiori & Polymer Clay Workshop: July 5-6th 2008
Day 1:
This comprehensive 2 day workshop designed for beginners will focus on the construction of 'millefiori' canes - the process where pictures are created to form tubes which can then be sliced & used for many purposes - jewellery, to decorate objects, cards, paper projects etc.
Basic knowledge of polymer clay properties, brands, tools, baking, bead-making & polishing will be covered.
Students will make a number of different millefiori 'canes' including a jellyroll, striped loaf, bulleseye, skinner colour blend, & leaf a complex flower cane with translucent background.
Day 2:
The second day of this 2 day workshop will cover making beads using Millefiori canes made on Day 1 - Making of various shapes of beads will be demonstrated and students will be able to make beads, bake them, and learn finishing techniques. These techniques include drilling holes, sanding & polishing and making simple jewellery using these beads - ie. Choker Necklaces, earrings. It is envisaged that each person should be able to complete at least 2 pieces of finished jewellery by the end of the 2nd day.
Materials:
Class fee covers clay for projects, class notes, use of tools in studio, and refreshments.
What to Bring:
Pen & notebook, plastic bags or plastic wrap, container, any tools you already use (pasta machine if you have one).
