Each of these wonderfully bumpy glass beads is one of a kind. Lampwork is the ancient technique of using a flame to melt glass (at one time accomplished using oil lamps, hence the name). Artists wind the molten glass around a steel mandrel, cool the glass and then sculpt it into beads using freehand metal tools or by turning the bead in a metal mold. Some lampwork beads are reproductions of ancient Chinese "warring states" styles, and others show modern Japanese influence. All are sold at our low import prices. As with all handmade beads, size and shape will vary, as will strand length and quantity per strand.
